Chirotherapie

Unter Chirotherapie (Synonym: manuelle Medizin) versteht man diagnostische und therapeutische Maßnahmen am gesamten Bewegungsapparat mit Schwerpunkt Wirbelsäule unter ausschließlicher Verwendung der Hände des Therapeuten (lateinisch manus = deutsch Hand).

Vorgehen:

  • Nach Schilderung der Beschwerden durch den Patienten wird durch den Therapeuten zunächst eine gründliche Untersuchung des Bewegungsapparates durchgeführt. Hierzu wird das Bewegungsausmaß des entsprechenden Gelenkes oder des Wirbelsäulenabschnittes festgestellt, darüber hinaus evtl. vorhandene Schwellungszustände diagnostiziert. Anschließend wird durch Abtasten der betroffenen Körperregion geprüft, ob ein Druckschmerz vorhanden ist oder ob Spannungszustände im Bereich der Muskulatur vorhanden sind. Darüber hinaus können Gelenkergüsse getastet werden. Nach Diagnosesicherung wird dann entweder ein manipulativer oder ein mobilisierender Eingriff am gestörten Bewegungssegment vorgenommen. Manipulation bedeutet hierbei, dass auf die betroffene Reaktion mit hoher Geschwindigkeit ein kurzer Impuls gesetzt wird, um eine vorhandene Blockierung in einem Bewegungssegment zu lösen. Mobilisation bedeutet, dass durch weiche, wiederholte, rhythmische Bewegungsabläufe versucht wird, das gestörte Bewegungssegment zu lockern und das normale Bewegungsgefüge wieder herzustellen.
